Vision Library+ v2.1: XY Plot+, Control Chart+ and Event Analytics Table+

Vision Library+ v2.1:
XY Plot+, Control Chart+ and Event Analytics Table+

Vision Library+ 2.1 adds three symbols: XY Plot+, Control Chart+ and Event Analytics Table+. Charts can show values in another unit and pan and zoom out past the loaded range, and filters can be preselected from a display link.

Product: Vision Library+ for AVEVA PI Vision Release: 2.1.0 Date: October 18, 2026

Viewing a display no longer marks it as changed, and many defects are fixed, among them an AF Table+ save that could delete table columns. If you are upgrading, read What changes when you upgrade first.

New symbols

XY Plot+

XY Plot+ in PI Vision with points colored by a third value, a regression line and a closed operating envelope, next to its configuration pane.

Plots one measurement against another, for example head against flow. It replaces the native XY Plot and keeps its data model.

  • Retrieval per X data source with an explicit point budget; a notice reports truncated and dropped points, where the native plot silently stops at 10,000 records.
  • Color the points by a third value from a Multi-State attribute, as bands or a gradient.
  • Reference curves and regression: design curves from coefficients or pasted x,y pairs, and linear, polynomial, exponential, logarithmic and power fits with equation and R².
  • Classify points against a curve, line or envelope, with counts in the legend.
  • Gates and time trail: keep only the pairs recorded under a condition, and follow points in time order.

Control Chart+

Control Chart+ in PI Vision showing an I-MR chart with control and specification limits, a histogram with a normal curve, Cpk and Ppk values and a WARNING badge.

Shows whether a process is in statistical control, with a status badge (STABLE, WARNING, VIOLATION, NO LIMITS). It maps the ProcessBook SQC settings.

  • Chart types: I-MR, X-bar-R and X-bar-S.
  • Limits from a baseline period, AF limit traits, limit data sources or the visible window.
  • Rule sets: Nelson (all 8), Western Electric or Custom.
  • Capability: Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk and Cpm, with a histogram and normal curve beside the chart.
  • It checks rules only while a display is open and sends no alerts; use AF analyses and notifications for that.

Event Analytics Table+

Event Analytics Table+ in PI Vision summarizing loss by root cause with a Top 5 plus Others row, colored cells, a delta column against a target and a totals row.

Turns event frames into a summary table: rows per category, columns per summary, and a totals row.

  • Dimension, Measure and Delta columns, including comparisons with a target.
  • Top N with an Others row that stays last, also when a reader sorts.
  • Cells colored by limits, as fills, gradients or progress bars.
  • Click to drill down through the dimensions or to filter other symbols on the display.

New features

Charts

  • Pan and zoom out beyond the loaded range on Combo Chart+ and Asset Time Series Chart+; the display time range follows on release.
  • A-B ruler interval is shaded outside the rulers on the time-series charts and Quick Trend.
  • Histogram+: binning rules, a Pareto mode and process capability.

Display units

  • Show an AF attribute in another unit of its unit of measure, as the native symbols do, on the charts, Time Series Table+, the gauges, KPI Card+ and Alarm Sound+. Quick Trend follows the unit.

Filtering

  • Preselect a filter from the display link, so one display can serve every notification e-mail.
  • Default selection when the display opens, and a compact filter indicator.

Data entry

  • Nothing is written to an unresolved data source; your edits are kept and a notice names the inputs.
  • Replace and Remove act at PI's exact timestamp.

Tables and event frames

  • Header text filters work the same in every table: case-insensitive, partial match, with wildcards.
  • Events Table+: Apply Context applies an event's time range and asset in one click.
  • Event Details: capture current attribute values of closed events.

Navigation and tools

  • Navigation Menu+: a new item tree editor with drag and drop.
  • Quick Trend: full Download menu (PNG, SVG, PDF, CSV, JSON, XLSX).

Fixes

  • Viewing a display no longer marks it as changed, so you are no longer asked to save it when you leave.
  • AF Table+: a save no longer deletes the table columns the symbol does not show, with their values.
  • Manual Data Entry+: a failed reload no longer re-sends edits, and prefills never overwrite typed values.
  • Manual Input Table+: typed cells on a new row are saved after a column rebuild.
  • Toggle buttons: clicking the selected half no longer flips the setting.
  • Unreadable AF multi-state limits no longer stop the gauges, Heatmap+ or Asset Comparison Table+.
  • Alarm Sound+: a value in alarm stays in alarm, and a click acknowledges only the running alarm.
  • Gantt Chart+: every visible row is labeled again.
  • Many smaller fixes across the charts, tables, gauges and navigation symbols.

What changes when you upgrade

Saved displays are not rewritten and keep rendering. You may notice these changes:

  • Filter indicators are compact by default; set Filter Indicator to Full for the 2.0 chip.
  • Header filters match more rows because they now match part of the value and ignore case.
  • Asset Comparison Bar Chart+: horizontal charts read top-down; turn off Inverted if it was a workaround.
  • Retired options: the Event Comparison Chart+ trellis layout renders as Split, and the Map+ Pie series type shows markers.
  • Alarm Table+ and Asset Comparison Table+ no longer save viewer filters, sorts and column widths; set defaults in PI Vision edit mode.
  • Defaults for new symbols only: Apply to display time is on for new Combo Chart+ and Asset Time Series Chart+.

For administrators

  • Start from the new config.js and merge your site values into it.
  • PI Web API request pacing: large event frame loads now slow down and retry instead of losing values.
