PI Vision KPI cards for a fleet of AF assets

Pick the assets once, choose what to calculate, and get one card per KPI at the top of your display.

Count, total or average an attribute across assets

Each card summarises the current values of every asset in the set, so one symbol answers how many, how much and how high right now.

  • Assets from a fixed selection or a PI Vision search criteria, so new assets of the same type are included.
  • Count, Count Distinct, Sum, Minimum, Maximum, Average, Median and Standard Deviation.
  • Several values in one symbol, each with its own card title.
  • Units from the AF attribute, plus number format settings.

KPI cards that fit the dashboard

Arrange the cards as the top row of a dashboard or as a grid beside a chart, and match them to the display.

  • Automatic layout, or a fixed number of rows or columns, with adjustable spacing.
  • Shared themes such as PI Vision, Light, High Contrast or Print, or a custom theme.
  • Flat or gradient surface and container styles from none to card, framed or glass.
  • Separate font sizes for the value and the title, with left, centred or right text.

Group and rank asset KPIs by template or state

Split a KPI into one card per group, then keep the groups that matter most.

One card per template, state or attribute value

Add a series and the symbol creates a card for every group, so equipment types, sites or operating states sit side by side.

  • Group by template, description, asset name or any attribute value, including digital states.
  • Each value gets one card per group: two values across four states give eight cards.
  • Compound digital state names split by level, such as a main reason and its sub-reason.
  • Cards sorted ascending or descending by the group name or any of the values.

Top or bottom N with an Others card

Show only the leading or the weakest groups and still keep the total in view.

  • Top or bottom N groups, ranked by any of the values.
  • An Others card applies the same summary to the remaining groups, so with Sum the total stays visible.
  • Group by asset name to rank individual assets.
  • Top N is set per series, so each grouping level ranks on its own.

KPI targets, status colours and drilldown

Show whether each card is on target, colour the ones that need attention, and let a click lead to the detail.

Targets and multi-state status colours

Read at a glance how far each card is from its target and which groups are outside their limits.

  • A fixed target per value, with the difference as a value or a percentage.
  • Higher is better or lower is better sets the badge colour; the arrow shows above or below target.
  • Multi-state limits per value, plus an error colour.
  • Text, Status Dot, Border, Accent + Tint, Soft Fill, Solid Fill, Value Badge, Progress, Progress and Value, Fill Level or Radial Progress.

Drill down or filter the rest of the display

Use the cards as the entry point of a dashboard: a click opens the next level or narrows the other asset symbols.

  • Drilldown: a click on a card shows the next series for that group, and Drill Up returns.
  • Filter: selected cards filter other symbols as a master or linked filter.
  • Cards recalculate when Asset Filter+ or another asset symbol narrows the display, with a count such as "5 of 11 assets".
  • Ignore Master keeps the KPIs independent of master filters while linked inputs still apply.

Asset Analytics KPI+ FAQ

How is it different from KPI Card+ and Asset Comparison Table+?

Asset Analytics KPI+ summarises many assets into a few cards, such as the number of pumps or their average flow rate. KPI Card+ shows one PI Point or AF attribute, with a summary over a time period, a sparkline and targets such as the AF Target trait. Asset Comparison Table+ lists every asset with its values. For event frames, use Event Analytics KPI+.

Are new assets included automatically?

Yes, if the symbol uses PI Vision search criteria instead of a fixed selection of assets. New assets that match the search, such as another asset created from the same AF template, are included in the cards.

Can it calculate an average over the last shift?

No. Each asset contributes its current attribute value for the display time, and the cards summarise those values across the assets. For an attribute aggregated over time, use an AF analysis or Asset Time Series Chart+.

Does it work with Asset Filter+ and the other asset symbols?

Yes. The cards recalculate when Asset Filter+ or another asset symbol narrows the display, and an indicator shows how many assets remain. With Click Action Filter, selected cards filter the other symbols in turn. Event frame filters are ignored.

What do we need to run it?

PI Vision 2021 or later with PI Web API, and PI AF Server 2018 SP2 or later. Asset Analytics KPI+ runs in PI Vision and uses each user’s existing PI permissions.

How do we get Asset Analytics KPI+?

Asset Analytics KPI+ is part of Vision Library+, together with the other Vision Library+ symbols. Request a trial to test it in your own PI Vision environment.
