Event Comparison Chart+ for AVEVA PI Vision
Lay batches, startups, trips and other Event Frames over each other on one relative time axis, and see how each run compares with the others and with a golden reference in your PI Vision display.
A trend shows what happened at 10:32. Event Comparison Chart+ shows what each event did five hours after it started, or in its last ten per cent, so repeated events can be compared directly.
Choose the alignment that fits the question: how events begin, how they run into their end, or how their shape compares when durations differ.
Plot the attributes that change during the event and use the others to explain it, for example asset, product grade or operating mode.
Give the aligned traces the scale they need: one shared scale, one per trace, separate lanes or custom scales.
Mark the runs you trust as golden and see at a glance whether the other events, including the one still running, stay inside the expected envelope.
One golden event becomes the reference trace. Several golden events become a golden average profile, with a tolerance band around it.
Show the internal structure of each event and the limits that matter, so a deviation can be tied to a phase.

Four common ways teams use Event Comparison Chart+ on their displays.

Use Event Comparison Chart+ to overlay the process data of individual Event Frames, aligned at their start, their end or on a 0–100 % axis, for example to compare each batch with a golden batch. Event Analytics Chart+ aggregates Event Frames into counts, durations and attribute summaries by asset, reason or period instead of plotting the data inside each event. Period Comparison Chart+ compares fixed periods such as today and yesterday or this year and last year, not events.
One golden event is used as the reference trace. With several golden events the chart builds a golden average profile. The tolerance band is set as a per cent of the golden average, an absolute value or a multiple of the sample standard deviation across the golden events. Upper and lower limits can differ.
Yes. Normalized (0–100 %) alignment stretches every event to the same axis so their shapes line up. Matched Start and Matched End keep elapsed time instead, and pre- and post-event offsets add data from before the start or after the end of each event.
No. Pins and golden marks are kept with the display configuration, not written to the Event Frames. The Event Frames in AF stay as they are.
PI Vision 2021 or later with PI Web API, PI AF Server 2018 SP2 or later, and Event Frames in AF whose attributes hold the process data to compare. Event Comparison Chart+ runs in PI Vision and uses each user’s existing PI permissions.
