Learn how to install, configure, and use the advanced symbols included with Vision Library+.
Vision Library+ OverviewVision Library+ is a suite of custom symbols and toolbar extensions for AVEVA PI Vision (formerly OSIsoft PI Vision). It extends the built-in PI Vision symbol set with advanced data-entry controls, enhanced charting and analytics, and operator-experience tools that are not available out of the box.Getting startedVision Library+ adds symbols and toolbar tools to the PI Vision display editor. Use this chapter to choose a symbol, add it to a display, and find the settings that affect operators.Using the Time BarThe Time Bar lets an operator change the time range of one visualization without changing the PI Vision display time. It is available on supported Vision Library+ charts and tables and on Quick Trend.Themes and container stylesVision Library+ symbols that support shared styling use up to three independent settings: Theme, Surface, and Container Style. Use them to give charts, tables, gauges, forms, and controls a consistent appearance without configuring every color separately.Data QualityVision Library+ can hide exact PI No Data results and warn operators when a live value has not received a recent event. These options are available only on symbols where the behavior is meaningful.Filtering dashboardsVision Library+ symbols can coordinate selections on one PI Vision display.Symbol guideThe symbol guide is organized by operational task. Data entryUse data-entry symbols when operators need to record, correct, or submit values from a PI Vision display. Choose the symbol according to the number of values, the amount of guidance required, and whether historical rows must remain visible.Manual Data Entry+Manual Data Entry+ lets authorized operators enter, validate, import, and review time-series values in a grid.Manual Input Form+Manual Input Form+ presents writable values as an operator form with configurable controls, grouping, validation, and auditing.Manual Input Table+Manual Input Table+ combines historical values and editable rows in a table for controlled PI System data entry.Quick Input+Quick Input+ writes one operator-selected value to a PI Point or AF attribute using a control suited to its data type.
Tables and monitoringUse table and monitoring symbols when operators need structured rows for current conditions, historical values, assets, events, or AF reference data.AF Table+AF Table+ displays an AF table and can filter its rows by display time or attribute values.Alarm Table+Alarm Table+ collects current alarm conditions in one table and supports acknowledgement, sound, filtering, and contextual actions.Asset Comparison Table+Asset Comparison Table+ compares selected attributes across a configurable set of AF assets.Event Frame Form+Event Frame Form+ presents event frames as editable cards so operators can review event details and update permitted event-frame attributes without opening a separate application.Events Table+Events Table+ displays event-frame search results with filtering, grouping, editing, comparison, and export tools.Time Series Table+Time Series Table+ presents recorded or calculated values in rows with sorting, filtering, grouping, multi-state styling, and export.
Charts and analyticsUse chart and analytics symbols to compare time-series behavior, distributions, repeated periods, event populations, asset profiles, or process relationships.Asset Time Series Chart+Asset Time Series Chart+ compares measurements and digital operating states across selected assets. Configure an attribute once to give it the same appearance, applicable analysis, and multi-state settings on every matching asset.Asset Comparison Bar Chart+Asset Comparison Bar Chart+ compares attributes across AF assets as grouped or stacked bars.Box Plot+Box Plot+ summarizes the distribution of time-series values and can overlay reference traces for comparison.Combo Chart+Combo Chart+ compares process trends on one chart, with a trace type and value scale for each data source. Use it to visualize material, energy, utility, or cost flows through a process.Waterfall Chart+Waterfall Chart+ shows how sequential positive and negative contributions change a starting value into a final total. Each data source is displayed as either an absolute total or a relative change.
Gauges and process visualizationUse these symbols when the display must communicate a current value, operating range, alarm state, asset hierarchy, location, or specialized diagnostic result at a glance.Alarm Sound+Alarm Sound+ provides a visible and audible alarm that an operator can acknowledge while the alarm condition remains active.Asset Treemap+Asset Treemap+ displays a hierarchy of assets as nested boxes whose size and color represent configured values.Duval Triangle+Duval Triangle+ plots dissolved-gas measurements to help qualified users classify transformer fault regions.KPI Card+KPI Card+ presents one PI Point or AF attribute as a compact dashboard card. The displayed KPI can be the current value or a calculated summary. Optional targets, sparklines, multi-state card treatments, and data-quality indicators add context without requiring a full chart.Linear Gauge+Linear Gauge+ shows one or more process values on a horizontal or vertical scale. Use markers or bars to show each value and add multi-state ranges when operators need to see the current operating band.Map+Map+ plots assets and values on a geographic map with labels, clustering, lines, views, and multi-state styling.Radial Gauge+Radial Gauge+ shows one or more values on a circular scale with configurable ticks, labels, ranges, and multi-state colors.Value+Value+ displays a PI Point or AF attribute value and adds configurable tooltips, copy-to-clipboard support, multiline text, and floating ad-hoc trends to the standard PI Vision value experience.
Asset navigation and contextUse context controls when one display must serve several assets or time periods, or when operators need a consistent menu across related displays.Asset Filter+Asset Filter+ lets an operator select one or more asset categories and applies that selection to compatible Vision Library+ symbols on the same display.Asset Select+Asset Select+ lets an operator choose an AF asset and apply it as display context.DateTime Picker+DateTime Picker+ lets operators set the PI Vision display time range from a list of ready-made periods, a named list of ranges, the values of a data source, or a calendar.Navigation Menu+Navigation Menu+ builds a reusable navigation bar of links to PI Vision displays, URLs, and asset-context destinations, and can share one menu definition across many displays.
Embedded content and navigationUse these controls to open another display or website, or to present approved web content inside the current PI Vision display.Navigation Button+Navigation Button+ opens an external website or another PI Vision display. It can pass the current time range and AF asset context so the destination opens with relevant operational context.Web View+Web View+ embeds an iframe-compatible website, a Seeq worksheet, or another PI Vision display inside the current display. It can pass the display time range, asset context, and data source values to the target page, present several pages as tabs or an automatic slideshow, and open content in a dialog instead of in place.
ToolsVision Library+ tools operate at display level rather than as symbols bound to a data source.PlaybackPlayback replays a historical PI Vision display range in controlled time steps so you can review how the complete display changed during an event.Quick TrendQuick Trend creates floating charts from supported PI Vision and Vision Library+ symbols and keeps those charts available while you move between displays in the same browser page.
