Show every asset that is outside its limits in one table on your PI Vision display. Alarm Table+ checks AF attribute values against the conditions you set and lists each active alarm with its severity, message and value, for operators to acknowledge or to review later.

PI Vision alarm conditions from AF attributes
Choose the assets and attributes to watch and define what counts as an alarm. The table shows a row for every asset whose condition is true and removes it when the value returns to normal.
Alarm rows for many assets at once
Monitor the same attributes on every asset of a type, and see only the ones that need attention.
Assets added to the display or found by PI Vision search criteria.
Each attribute set as Alarm, Data or Limit.
One row per asset and alarm attribute while a condition is true.
Columns for asset, description, attribute, severity, message, time and value that you can show, hide, rename and reorder.
Active alarms with the column settings; the Asset column is renamed Production line. Demo data. Select the image to enlarge.
Thresholds, deadband and AF limits
Compare a value with a fixed threshold, or with a limit attribute on the same asset so every asset alarms against its own limits.
Operators =, !=, >, >=, < and <= against a static value or a dynamic limit.
Limit attributes from AF, marked as Source Type Limit.
Several conditions per attribute; the row shows the highest matching severity.
A deadband in per cent so a value near the threshold does not toggle the alarm.
Three conditions on one attribute, each with a message and a severity, one with a deadband. Thresholds are illustrative. Select the image to enlarge.
Severities, messages and context columns
Tell operators how urgent an alarm is and what else was happening on the asset, without opening another display.
Six severities from Critical to None, each with its own colour.
Your own message per condition, or an automatic one such as “Value > 60”.
Data attributes such as mode, product or speed as extra columns on each alarm row.
Multi-state colours for attribute values through Add Multi-State.
Alarm rows with custom messages and the line mode as a Data column. Demo data. Select the image to enlarge.
Alarm acknowledgement and alarm sound in PI Vision
Turn the table into an operator alarm board: show which alarms still need a response and make the important ones heard.
Acknowledge alarms in the table
Operators mark alarms as seen with one click, or acknowledge every visible row after filtering.
An Acknowledge button per row, and Acknowledge All in the column header menu.
Required From sets which severities need acknowledgement; the other rows show Not Required.
Highlight Rows colours unacknowledged and acknowledged rows, optionally blinking.
Your own text for acknowledged rows, such as Seen or Checked.
Acknowledgement required from Major, with highlighted rows. Demo data. Select the image to enlarge.
Alarm sounds and a summary bar
Play an audible alert for important alarms, and give operators the alarm count at a glance.
Seven built-in sounds, from Slow and Fast to Critical and Security.
Play From sets the lowest severity that plays a sound; a bell marks the rows that ring.
A summary bar with the total, the count per severity and the acknowledgement counts.
Filters below the column headers, with the summary bar counting only the filtered rows.
Sound from Critical alarms, a severity header filter and the summary bar for the filtered rows. Demo data. Select the image to enlarge.
Alarm history and review in PI Vision
Switch the same table to History mode to see when alarms started, how long they lasted and what the values were.
Alarm intervals from recorded values
Rebuild alarm intervals over the display time range, or a range of their own, from the recorded AF attribute values.
Start time, end time, duration, start value and end value for every interval.
Alarms still active at the end of the range show In Progress.
Intervals active in the range, or only those that start, end or lie entirely in it; in progress, completed or both.
Max Rows limits the list, and Descending shows the newest first.
Alarm intervals of one hour, newest first. Demo data. Select the image to enlarge.
Group, filter, sort and export alarms
Organise a long alarm list for a shift handover or a review, and hand it on as a file.
Group by severity, asset or another column, with the count in each group header.
Filters below the column headers, including a severity pick list and Min / Max ranges, and sort arrows on every column.
Export to CSV, JSON, Excel (XLSX) or PDF, with a PDF title, style, orientation and colours.
The shared Vision Library+ table style settings.
Alarm intervals grouped by severity, a severity header filter and the PDF export settings. Demo data. Select the image to enlarge.

When should we use Alarm Table+ instead of the other Vision Library+ tables?
Use Alarm Table+ when the table should list only alarms: rows appear when an AF attribute meets a condition you set, with severity, message, acknowledgement and sound, or as alarm intervals in History mode. Use Time Series Table+ to read recorded or calculated values of PI points and AF attributes over a time range. Use AF Table+ to show the rows of an AF table, such as reference or configuration data from a static, CSV or SQL table. Use Asset Comparison Table+ to see the same attributes of many assets side by side, with totals and editing. If your alarms are already recorded as Event Frames, for example by AF analyses, use Events Table+ to review and filter them.
Where do the alarms come from?
Alarm Table+ evaluates the alarm conditions in the PI Vision display. It reads AF attribute values (and supported calculations) and compares them with fixed values or with limit attributes on the same asset. It does not read PI Notifications or Event Frames, and it does not create Event Frames, notifications or any other records in the PI System. For server-side alarm management and notification workflows, use the AVEVA PI System tools built for that.
How does acknowledgement work, and is it shared between users?
Operators click Acknowledge on a row, or Acknowledge All in the column header menu for the visible rows. Required From decides which severities need acknowledgement. The acknowledgement is stored in the browser for that display and symbol, for 90 days by default. It is not written to PI Server or AF, so another browser or workstation shows its own acknowledgement state, and it is not an audit trail.
Can Alarm Table+ show past alarms?
Yes. In History mode it reads the recorded values of the alarm attributes over the display time range, or a custom range, and builds alarm intervals with start time, end time, duration, start value and end value. Max Rows limits the number of intervals, and Descending shows the newest first. Data columns show the context values at the time each alarm started.
What do we need to run it?
PI Vision 2021 or later with PI Web API, and PI AF Server 2018 SP2 or later. The monitored values must be AF attributes, so PI points need an AF attribute that references them. Alarm Table+ reads with each user’s existing PI permissions and writes nothing to the PI System.
How do we get Alarm Table+?
Alarm Table+ is part of Vision Library+, together with the other Vision Library+ symbols. Request a trial to test it in your own PI Vision environment.
Try Alarm Table+ in your PI Vision
Alarm Table+ is included in Vision Library+, the PI Vision custom symbol library from Software Athlete. Test it on your own displays and data.
