PI Nexus+ / Installation and Administration
13. Recommended First Run
Run scoped scans before the first full scan. Scoped scans validate permissions, target configuration, and scan behavior with less runtime and less noise.
Overview
Run scoped scans before the first full scan. Scoped scans validate permissions, target configuration, and scan behavior with less runtime and less noise.
Recommended sequence:
- Run a scoped PI Point scan for one PI Data Archive.
- Confirm the scan succeeds.
- Review PI Points inventory and health results.
- Run a scoped AF scan for one AF server or one small AF database.
- Confirm the scan succeeds.
- Review AF Attributes and AF Analyses.
- If PI Vision is configured, run a scoped PI Vision scan for one instance.
- Confirm PI Vision displays and dependencies look correct.
- Run Deployment Readiness again.
- Run a full scan.
If a scoped scan fails, fix that failure before moving to the next scope. A full scan should only be run after each selected inventory type has succeeded at least once.
A good result for this section is that each scoped scan succeeds and the inventory pages show expected objects.
