PI Vision Displays

This chapter shows how to find PI Vision displays that show broken data or that nobody opens any more.

This chapter shows how to find PI Vision displays that show broken data or that nobody opens any more.

Concepts

  • A display's health comes from its datasources: the PI Points, AF attributes and elements and the calculations it shows. One broken or missing datasource makes it Error.
  • A display that can be switched to sibling assets (elements from the same template) is checked once per sibling, for example "18 / 21 effective datasource instances OK".
  • A display is Unused when nobody opened it within the period an administrator set for the PI Vision instance (365 days by default). Displays marked as intentionally unused are counted separately.

Find displays with broken datasources

  1. Open PI Vision Displays, choose Filters and set Health to Error or Warning. Click a display.
  2. Read the Health card, then open Usage: the PI Points, AF attributes, AF elements and calculations the display uses.
  3. Use the Health filter to keep only the broken datasources. Click one to open it and fix the source.
  4. To repair the display itself, choose Open in PI Vision (the button beside More actions).

Issues lists the display's own issues, such as a calculation that references something that no longer exists.

Find unused displays

  1. On PI Vision Displays, read the Unused card.
  2. Choose Filters and set Usage to Unused.
  3. Sort by Last Modified and check the owner on Overview before you archive or delete a display in PI Vision.

PI Nexus+ never changes or deletes displays.
