Overview
This chapter shows how to see, per PI Data Archive, what feeds each PointSource and how its PI Points are doing. Use it for questions such as "everything on this PointSource went bad on Tuesday" or "is anything still feeding this PointSource?"
The list is filled by PI Point scans, which also read the archive's own point-source table for the description and point count.
Find which interface feeds a PointSource

- Open Point Sources. Click Without Collector to see PointSources that nothing feeds, or With Bad Points for those with failing PI Points.
- Read Fed by: PI Interface, PI Adapter, External System, a declared purpose, No collector or Feeder unknown. The name of the interface or Collector is shown below the label.
- Read PI Point Health: good, warning and bad counts with a bar. Hover it for the stale, frozen and bad-quality counts. The numbers match the PI Points page filtered to that archive and PointSource.
- Open the row menu: Show PI Interfaces opens the interfaces that claim it, Show PI Points opens its points.
Click the row to open the Point Source dialog. Its Fed by tab lists every interface, Collector and External System with how many points each accounts for. Refresh health re-reads its points.
Feeder unknown means PI Nexus+ cannot tell, because Interface Tracking is off, has not run yet or failed for that archive. It raises no warning; the reason is shown under the label.
Unused PointSources and PI's own internal ones are hidden. To show them, choose Filters and set Show to Also unused and PI internal.
Settle a PointSource without a collector
A PointSource with points that nothing feeds raises the warning PointSource Without Collector. If that is intended, for example manual entries or analysis outputs, an administrator declares its purpose.
- Open the row menu and choose Declare purpose (Admin role).
- Choose the Purpose: Manual / data entry, Analysis outputs, Custom application or Not used.
- Choose Applies to: this archive or Every PI Data Archive, and add an optional Note.
- Choose Save purpose. The warning closes; health counts are still shown.
Remove declaration in the same dialog brings the warning back. Changing Applies to replaces the existing declaration.
