PI Nexus+ / User Guide
Daily Workflow
This chapter gives a 15-minute daily routine that finds the most important problems and confirms yesterday's fixes.
Overview
This chapter gives a 15-minute daily routine that finds the most important problems and confirms yesterday's fixes.
Run the daily review
- Open Dashboard and choose Overview. Find the site and the server with the lowest health (see Find the worst site and server).
- Choose Action View. Check the Errors count and the Monitoring sensors line for anything down.
- Open the largest group under Top Errors or Problem Templates (see Triage the Action View).
- On the Issues page, narrow the list and open the first object (see Investigate an issue).
- Trace the cause with the Dependency Graph and Change History tabs.
- Fix the cause in the PI System, then confirm the fix with Check health or wait for the next scan (see Confirm a fix).
- Suppress only what is accepted, with a reason and, if useful, an expiry.
Habits that save time
- Fix the source, not the symptom. A PI Vision display error is often caused by an AF Attribute, which is often caused by a missing PI Point.
- When many elements fail the same way, open AF Templates: one template fix repairs every derived element.
- When a healthy object suddenly fails, check Change History first.
- Operators: check Needs attention on the Scanning page once a day, so stale results do not hide new problems.
