Overview
This reference lists the columns, actions and dependent features of Admin > PI Data Archives, and the statuses of PI Interface runtime monitoring.
Columns
| Column | Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Server or collective name |
| Site | Shown once two or more sites exist |
| Authentication | Windows (the process account) or OpenID Connect (the shared client) |
| Version | PI Data Archive version from the last test |
| Status | Enabled, Disabled or Error (last test failed, with the message); Not licensed; Runtime poll and Interface health scan when those features are on |
| API identity | Account the web application connected as, its PI user and PI identities |
| Module DB | Ready, Testing, Failed or Not tested, with the scanner account, machine, architecture and path |
Row actions
| Action | Available when | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Enable / Disable | Always | Enable tests first. Disable marks the inventory Excluded and switches off the three features below |
| Edit | Always | Site (two or more sites) and Authentication mode. A new mode clears the test result |
| Test | Always | Connects as the web application's identity |
| Test Module DB | Windows authentication | Queued to the scanner service; reads %OSI\Interfaces as the scanner account. A pending test is reused, not repeated |
| Enable Interface Tracking | Enabled archive, Windows authentication | Future PI Point and Full Inventory scans read PI Interfaces and fail the target if the Module Database cannot be read; the previous interface inventory is then kept, not treated as empty |
| Disable Interface Tracking | Tracking on | Also disables Runtime Monitoring and removes interface mappings from PI Points |
| Enable Runtime Monitoring | Enabled archive with Interface Tracking | Discovers the UniInt health points and starts the runtime poll |
| Rediscover Runtime Points | Runtime Monitoring on | Discovers health points again |
| Allow Tuning Writes / Block Tuning Writes | Enabled archive | Lets Compression Tuning change exception settings temporarily |
| Purge Inventory | Always | Deletes the archive's PI Point inventory and stored references after confirmation; the target stays |
PI Data Archives and AF servers have no remove action; disable them instead.
Feature defaults
| Feature | Default | Requires |
|---|---|---|
| Interface Tracking | Off | Enabled archive, Windows authentication, 64-bit PI SDK on the scanner server, read access to %OSI\Interfaces |
| Runtime Monitoring | Off | Interface Tracking |
| Tuning writes | Blocked | Enabled archive |
Runtime poll
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Interval | Interface and adapter runtime poll under Admin > Scan Automation, 1 to 15 minutes, default 1 |
| Not refreshing after | 3 intervals without a successful poll, at least 10 minutes |
| Runs | Outside the heavy-work window and the scan queue |
| Runtime poll outcome | Meaning | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Succeeded | The poll read the health points | None |
| Skipped (inventory scan) | An inventory scan holds the archive connection | None; clears on its own |
| Skipped (poll still running) | The previous poll is still running | None; clears on its own |
| Failed | The poll failed; the note shows the last success | Check the scanner service account's PI mapping and that the health points exist |
A stalled poll does not change interface statuses, open issues or send email. The interfaces keep their last status, and PI Interfaces, the Runtime tab and the dashboard coverage line say the evidence is not refreshing.
