Navigation Basics

Overview

The main navigation contains the user-facing pages:

• Dashboard: operational triage and high-level health.
• Issues: current and suppressed issue review.
• Change History: inventory changes detected by scans.
• PI Points: PI Data Archive point inventory and health.
• PI Interfaces: Module Database interface inventory, scan-class configuration, mapped tags, and per-interface health.
• Compression Tuning: guided analysis and review of PI Point exception and compression settings.
• AF Attributes: AF Attribute inventory, data references, limits, and usage.
• AF Analyses: AF Analysis health and performance indicators.
• AF Elements: AF Element health rollups from child attributes and analyses.
• AF Templates: AF Element Template issue concentration and derived element impact.
• PI Vision Displays: PI Vision display health, datasource health, usage, and direct display links.
• Scanning: scan status and manual scan actions, when your role permits scanning.

The header provides two common actions:

• Search opens global search. It finds PI Points, AF objects, and PI Vision displays by name, path, display ID, PointSource, InstrumentTag, and related text. Results are grouped by object type and can be filtered by type or health.
• Refresh reloads the current page from the latest persisted scan state.

Most list pages share the same interaction pattern:

• Use filters to narrow the page before exporting or bulk-reviewing.
• Click a row to open the detail dialog for that object.
• Use Show missing when you need to inspect inventory that was seen in earlier scans but was not found in the latest scan.
• Use Show excluded on PI Point inventory when you need to inspect tags that were found but intentionally excluded by PI Point Rules.
• Use Load more when the current result set is paged.
• Use Export CSV when available to export the current filtered view.

Evaluation edition

An Evaluation installation displays a persistent PI Nexus+ Evaluation banner with the remaining license time and detailed-object balance. Scans and health calculation remain fully active. Dashboard and every inventory page show complete aggregate counts, filters, and object lists. Issues disclose three deterministic representative examples per issue code, up to 100 detailed findings. Changing filters, sorting, search, or paging does not reveal a different issue sample.

An Evaluation license includes 50 detailed objects shared by all users of that signed license. Representative issue rows remain visible, but opening their full object details uses one detailed object. Before an object is opened, PI Nexus+ shows the remaining balance and asks for confirmation. The same object can be reopened without another charge, and its normal detail tabs and dependency graph remain available. The allowance is enforced by the server rather than browser storage, so clearing browser data or using another browser does not reset it.

Each signed Evaluation license includes one manual Compression Tuning run for up to 50 explicitly selected PI Points. The run's complete results and recommended comparison details remain available without consuming the general object-detail allowance. The entitlement is shared by all users, enforced by the server, and is consumed when the run is queued; clearing browser storage, archiving the run, or changing user accounts does not reset it. PI Point Rule scopes and additional manual runs require a Production license.

Restricted pages and controls remain visible so you can understand the Production workflow. Locked controls show Not available in the Evaluation version. Global search, change history, CSV exports, issue suppression, Compression Tuning remediation and exclusions, custom comparisons, apply/restore actions, and Auto Tune plan changes remain unavailable. Evaluation users may still cancel, rename, and archive their included tuning run. Actions hidden by your security role remain hidden; Evaluation licensing does not grant additional permission. Administrators can use Upgrade license or Open Licensing. Other users should contact their PI Nexus+ administrator.

Legacy licenses whose signed type is Trial use the same Evaluation experience. After an administrator installs a Production license, PI Nexus+ immediately unlocks the inventory and findings already collected; another scan is not required.

New Evaluation license files normally start their 30-day period when an administrator first installs them, so delivery time does not consume the evaluation. The file must be installed within its activation window, normally 90 days. Removing and reinstalling the same file does not reset its expiration in the same PI Nexus+ database. Older Evaluation/Trial files with a fixed expiration date continue to work as issued.
